Labels:text | screenshot | font OCR: Front Beginnings Row Ernie was bom to Eddie and Essie Banks on January 31, 1931 in Dallas, Texas. He was a standout in baseball, football, basketball and track at Booker T. Washington High School in Dallas, while also playing for the Detroit Colts, (a Negro baseball team), during the summer. Banks played with the Kansas City Monarchs of the NAL following graduation and later rejoined them after a brief time of service in the U.S. Army. He played with the Monarchs until the Chicago Cubs acquired him in 1953, where he would spend the next 21 seasons. (01942 Front Row
